This sculpture started as a clay maquette for a commission proposal at the Douglas MacArthur Park in Little Rock, Arkansas. I had spent six months coming up with a concept and creating the sculpture. I felt it was worthy of preserving. The sculpture displays a white soldier saving a Korean child and a black soldier watching his back. The Korean war was the first war where black and white soldiers in the US army fought side by side. My native country of Colombia sent a battalion to fight in this war as part of a coalition of 14 countries.
